0220 Yaletown LiveCity & Robson

got up early to go to Yaletown LiveCity with Sharon & Frances today

the weather was clear and sunny

it was all very relaxing and calm...

...until we came to the LiveCity lineup (the line up turns 2 more corners...)
it took us 1 hr of waiting before we could get inside

meanwhile while we were waiting, there's these "English" ladies dressed in big puffy white dresses walked by to say hi

finally got inside...wonder why there's no one watching the show on stage?

b/c everyone is lining up to go inside the CocaCola Pavillion

after another hour of waiting...

we finally can go inside the "Coke can"

lots of Coke bottles and cans

and history...

Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics torch

guy serving us free ice-cold Coke bottles (it taste better cold, and it's at just the right temperature -3 degrees?)

there's actually not much to do inside, but we did take a pic holding the olympic torch
there are other mini games, but there was a line up and we didn't have lunch yet, so we just wanted to eat

and the point of this coke event is to promote recycling?

we actually came here today to get free "LED Coke bottles" that the guy is holding, but we didn't get any, either b/c that they only give them away at night or they are all gone cuz most ppl went last week XD (they only had 20,000 LED bottles, but 80,000 ppl showed up)

after lunch, we went inside the Panasonic Pavilion to watch a short video clip of the Beijing 2008 Olympics opening and Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics opening in 3-D
it was not bad, feels like we were sitting right in the stadium to watch the show, but the only thing that really "popped out" was the confetti floating in the air XD

after watching the 3-D video, we decided that we can't stay in LiveCity any longer...cuz everything needs to line up and the things there wasn't that worth the long wait, so we went to Robson instead

another reason to come to Robson is to buy Winter Olympic mascots plushies at London Drugs that are 50% OFF!! (went from $60/set of 4 to $30, etc.) but only London Drugs is having a big sale, other stores are still selling at regular price...and many ppl dunno about it, and they still waited in a big line-up to buy the more expensive ones, SUCKERS~~ LOL j/k

for the first time, the streets of Vancouver feel like Asia...many people

then we saw "Batman" (though he looked kinda tall, he's also a bit chubby...and I think he was standing on a platform...)

Batman beating up the guy "KAPOW!"

Batman was being horny and kissed the woman, but she looks kinda willing = = (but I know Batman was only there to make money...)

then we saw a bronze cowgirl "statue"

the kid was really happy to play with one of her handguns

even though it's a long wait, we still decided to eat at Kintaro, b/c I haven't had good ramen for a long time XD

waiting patiently outside for seats...

...finally got inside
watching the guy make ramen...I realized that it's really good training for his arm muscles b/c he had to use big, heavy utensils to make ramen NON-STOP as there are always customers piling in~~ how can he ever rest?!

i ordered Shio Ramen (green scallion, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, boiled egg & BBQ pork in pork bone soup) with lean BBQ pork and light soup

I realized the lean pork was too lean...so dried...next time should get fat pork (I was afraid to get fat b/c last time I ordered fat pork in fatty soup...it was SO FAT!...but now it's too lean)

after eating ramen...we were so full cuz the bowls were huge...had to go for a walk

came across some interesting typography sculptures

LOVE sculpture by Robert Indiana, pretty famous and can be found in many other places around the world

they did a lot of things around the cities to make the place more "olympic feel", but I have to say lot of things were done last minute like 2 weeks before the olympics...

in the end, we went to see the Olympic Flame cauldron at Vancouver Convention Centre
they built fences around it b/c there were some ppl trying to vandalize the cauldron, but I can hardly see it...although I saw some ppl complaining online about the fence distracting the view...the view was pretty clear at night (some ppl just likes to complain about everything = =)

after a long day of standing, waiting in line, and walking, my legs finally started to feel tired...then we went home...but we still had to line up b/c the skytrain station was jam packed with ppl (cuz they made the skytrain carts too short b/c they didn't expect so many ppl would come or that they are too broke to make longer trains...)
